Have you ever heard about it? If you haven’t, in this case I want to try explaining you a little about ActiveX.

ActiveX is technology or software component from Microsoft that can only be used in Internet Explorer. It is software component that is merged of OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) and COM (Component Object Model). Microsoft introduced ActiveX in 1996 for the computers that use Windows operating system. It can’t be used for Mac or Linux operating system. This software enables us to access web pages that contain Java, JavaScript, and Visual Basic application on it.

ActiveX enables us to run other applications while we are browse through Internet Explorer, such as: Windows Media Player, Flash, QuickTime, and other applications that can be inserted in web pages. It means we can listen to our favorite music and show PDF or Word document online.

In fact, using ActiveX sometimes is dangerous enough for your computer because ActiveX sometimes usually creates virus for your computer. Therefore Internet Explorer often gives a notification about your security warning by turning up dialog box and asking do you want to give ActiveX control or not.

By the way, if you are interested in using ActiveX, you should click here to download ActiveX. It is not difficult because after downloading, you can use this technology in your Internet Explorer directly.
